Summer Barnum is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner dedicated to providing compassionate, patient-centered care in the comfort of patients’ homes. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons University in Boston, where she completed advanced training in family and adult primary care.
Summer has been practicing as a nurse practitioner since 2021. From 2021 to 2024, she worked with Northlake Nephrology and Hospital Medicine Services, gaining extensive experience managing complex medical conditions and caring for patients across both inpatient and outpatient settings.Throughout her career, Summer has developed a strong focus on geriatric and hospice care, giving her a deep understanding of the unique medical and emotional needs of older adults and patients with serious illness.
She is currently practicing with Gulf South Inpatient at Home, working alongside Dr. John Simon. Summer considers it a privilege to help grow this important community resource and to expand access to high-quality medical care for patients who benefit from receiving care at home. Her approach to medicine centers on building relationships, improving quality of life, and providing thoughtful, individualized care that supports both patients and their families.
Outside of medicine, Summer enjoys spending time with her son, traveling, being outdoors, and supporting youth sports.
